Christopher Esber was born in Australia to Lebanese parents. He studied at Sydney TAFE and was invited to show his graduate collection at Rosemount Fashion Week in 2008. He also won the 2012 LMFF Designer Award. Esber’s aesthetic has been labelled ‘a modernised take on feminine dressing’ (My Chameleon 2012) and Esber himself has stated that his unique selling position caters to ‘mature women with strong personalities and an appreciation for inventive fashion’ (Esber 2012). Prices range from $200 for T-shirts to around $700 for dresses.
Romance Was Born
Romance Was Born is a label created by Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales who met when studying together at East Sydney Technical College. Their first collection was shown in 2005 (Safe, 2012) and they have since found a unique selling position for themselves with their fun, unique style and quirky aesthetic which has been described as a fusion of ‘Australiana, kitsch and nana couture.’(Fashion Sydney, 2012) In terms of price point, garments range from $200 for a top to $700 for a dress.
Limedrop is an emerging Australian fashion label which is headed by Clea Garrick and Nathan Price. Clea obtained a degree in fashion and Nathan in marketing, both from the Queensland University of Technology. Their partnership has led to their label winning first place in the Fashion Exposed competition, Debut. They have since gone on to develop ‘imaginative and lively designs’ (Melbourne’s GPO, 2012) which incorporate ‘soft feminine silhouettes’ and ‘gentle masculine tailoring’ (George, 2011). Their unique selling position is focused on understated elegance. Prices of Limedrop garments range from around $100 for a top to $500 for a dress.
