Australian Competitions - Debut

Debut is an Australian competition for up and coming fashion and accessory labels which first began in 2006 in Sydney. It is a biannual competition which was launched to help young Australian and New Zealand designers to enter into the very competitive fashion industry.  Applicants for this competition must present 6 looks and be ready to begin production and business straight away if they are successful. Judges are looking for fresh, innovative and highly professional looks. The winners of Debut receive prizes in excess of $8000.


Labels which have competed in the Debut competition and gone on to achieve great success both overseas and/or in Australia include UTS's very own Donna Sgro, Limedrop, Since Grey and Alexi Freeman.
